Essex - When Woodman’s of Essex, the over 100-year-old seafood restaurant in Essex, founded the Mr. & Mrs. L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship, they never expected it would one day have awarded over $700,000 to over 100 students across the North Shore of Massachusetts. This is thanks in large part to the continued support of the Essex, Massachusetts community and many local businesses and restaurants.
Woodman’s of Essex is teaming up with 10 other Essex restaurants from the original “Taste of Essex” fundraising event, to raise money for the scholarship and help local students get a college education.
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 11:00am until closing, all 11 restaurants will be donating 10% or more of their gross sales to the L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship. The restaurants include Blue Marlin Grille, Boathouse Grille, Village Restaurant, Windward Grille, Essex Seafood, Riversbend, Cape Ann Pizza, The Farm Bar & Grille, C.K. Pearl, Shea’s Riverside, and Woodman’s of Essex. Patrons are encouraged to call ahead for reservations and mention the scholarship when dining, but neither is required for 10% of all sales to go toward the scholarship fund. “We are moved and honored to be celebrating 30 years of the L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship, and we are so grateful to the Essex, Massachusetts restaurants and patrons, and the entire Essex community, for their continued support and for helping us to raise money for education over the last 30 years,” said Maureen Woodman of Woodman’s of Essex.
Simply show up on April 5th at any one of the 11 participating Essex restaurants, or call 978-768-2559 for details. If you can’t dine out on that day, you can also support the fund by going to http://www.woodmans.com/scholarship/ to make a donation.
