The mayor of Peabody released a list of hundreds of individuals who might be entitled to abandoned property held by the city's treasury. And it's not just Peabody residents who could be owed some of the $20,000 in unclaimed cash. Besides Peabody, the list includes individuals from North Shore communities such as Beverly, Salem, Danvers, Ipswich, Middleton, Swampscott and Wenham, and places as far away as Bloomington, Minnesota, and San Diego.

"I recommend that all Peabody residents and business owners check the unclaimed property list at the city's website, www.peabody-ma.gov," Mayor Ted Bettencourt said in a press release. "I am committed to returning these funds to their rightful owners and we have streamlined the process to make it as simple and convenient as possible."

Those appearing on the list can obtain information concerning the value of the property being held and a claim form. Each claim form must include a valid signature and mailing address to be processed. Claim forms must be received by Feb. 1, 2019. Those making a claim should allow eight weeks for checks to be administered.
