Things like staging the home, making repairs or minor improvements, or even simply painting the walls can be the difference between a home resting on the market and one that's sold fast. My wife is a certified home stager and we offer her consultations free when a listing contract is signed.

“In July of 2010, my brothers and I hired Greg Tully of EXIT Premier Real Estate to sell our mother's house in Lynn, MA. I am VERY glad we did so. “We met Greg at one of his listings. We did not like that house but Greg took time to understand what we were looking for. He subsequently showed us a few homes. When he saw a house that fit us perfectly, he got us in to see it before it was actually listed. We loved it and made an offer. The problem was that someone else made a higher offer. At that point, Greg earned his commission by negotiating and explaining to the sellers why our offer was "better" despite the lower price (for a variety of financial reasons).
